I lead the product and build the prototype.
- 01
I work out what to build
I talk to customers and users, look at the data you already have and write down the problem, who it's for and the minimum we need to build to test it.
- 02
I build the prototype
Functional, with a database and real data, in a matter of days. Just enough to put it in front of users and see what they do with it.
- 03
I lead the development team
Once the prototype shows there's something there, your team builds the product. I set priorities, translate between business people and engineers, and keep the momentum going.
- 04
I measure and adjust
Usage metrics, short interviews and changes every week. If people aren't using it, we know within weeks and either change course or stop.
Before you hire me
- Who it's for
- Funded startups and product teams that need a senior person to lead the build while their own people develop and maintain it. Also companies that want to test an idea quickly.
- How to hire me
- Three ways: a few hours a week within your team as head of product, a whole project with a clear start and finish, or just the prototype, which I build myself.
- What you get
- The problem and scope in writing, a working prototype with real data and, if we keep going, a team that knows what to build and why.
- How long it takes
- The prototype takes days. What comes next depends on what we learn from users, and we review that every week.
- What you bring
- Access to customers or users to talk to, the data you already have and someone in your company I can make decisions with quickly.
- If it doesn't work
- If users don't use it, we find out within weeks. At that point the prototype has done its job: we change the approach or leave it there, before spending months on it.
- Examples
- AskPancho, Oklusion and the translation platform, in the portfolio.
